Family-owned fusion restaurant Tia Buela houses multiple cultures–Mexican, Puerto Rican, and Cuban–under one roof in Florida, USA. Everything about it is inspired by its owners’ mixed heritage. Their focus is family, culture, and celebration. They want everyone to feel welcome at Tia Buela–they want every customer to feel like they’re part of the community. In designing their brand identity, we wanted to capture the warmth of the atmosphere along with some of the cultures represented in their menu. To portray the excitement and complexity of their Southern American dishes, we used vibrant colours. We also went with softer shapes and rounded edges in the typography and illustrations to bring to the surface the friendly vibes you can expect at a family-oriented business like theirs.
